The Jr. Volunteer program at Valley Hospital and Medical Center focuses on providing students with opportunities that may contribute toward their future such as work experience for future employment and exposure to healthcare professionals in their work environment.
Application/Interview

Potential volunteers are considered based on their application, references, screenings, and a formal interview with volunteer services.

Applications must include 2 references and verification of MMR (Rubella/Rubeola) measles immunization and verification of chicken pox (Varicella) outbreak or documentation of chicken pox immunization. Become a Volunteer

Applications are accepted on a continual basis and are dated when received. Applicants are interviewed based on the date received, session rotation and available openings in the program. If openings become available, you may be contacted for a formal interview prior to the next session rotation.

Requirements

Jr. Volunteers are between the ages of 14-18 and must be enrolled in school or be home schooled. A WSP (Washington State Patrol) request for criminal history information, TB (Tuberculosis) symptom check list and laboratory evidence documented via official record for MMR and Chicken Pox are conditions to volunteer.

Jr. Volunteers are required to volunteer 2-4 hours per week for a minimum of one session or three months. Jr. Volunteers must attend a mandatory safety/program orientation and department specific training prior to volunteering.

A Year-Round Program

The Jr. Volunteer program is a year-round program. It rotates fall, winter, spring and summer. This allows potential applicants to be considered for possible program openings as well as enables active volunteers to experience other departments.
