The Valley Hospital and Medical Center College/Internship volunteer program focuses on students who are enrolled in pre-medical, nursing, pharmacy, radiology and/or students interested in pursuing a career in the healthcare environment such as Finance, Human Resources, Medical Records and Community Relations. The organization, physicians and staff support the College/Intern volunteer program understanding the value this important program represents to our future generation of caregivers.

Valley Hospital and Medical Center partners with local universities to provide school credit internship opportunities. Internship placements are specific to the student’s career interest and/or major. The student observes the knowledge and skills used everyday working side by side with healthcare professionals who understand the direct impact volunteering has for the organization and the benefit it may have toward their future career choices.

Application/Interview

College/Intern volunteers are considered based on their application, references, screenings, and a formal interview with Volunteer Services. All internship opportunities are facilitated by volunteer services and the university where the student is enrolled.

Applications must include a letter of reference from a college professor, character reference, UNOFFICIAL College transcript and verification of MMR (Rubella/Rubeola) measles immunizations and verification of chicken pox (Varicella) outbreak or documentation of chicken pox immunization. Applications are accepted on a continual basis and are dated when received. Applicants are interviewed based on the date received, session rotation and available openings in the program. If openings become available, you may be contacted for a formal interview prior to the next session rotation.

A Year-Round Program

The college volunteer/intern program is a year - round program. It rotates fall, winter, spring and summer. This allows potential applicants to be considered for possible program openings as well as enables active volunteers to experience other departments.
