Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease
that causes the body to produce abnormally thick, sticky
mucus. According to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation,
eighty percent of people with CF are diagnosed
by age 3. The thick mucous leads to life-threatening
issues with particularly the lung (infections and blockage),
but also the pancreas (malabsorption of nutrients from
food) and the bile ducts (permanent liver damage).
Most patients need many prescriptions and chest physical
therapy to assist with breathing, digestion and to
stay as healthy as possible. For
more information about
cystic fibrosis…Our Clinic is the only one in the region
to treat these special people with this complicated disease.
