Valley Hospital & Medical Center opened its doors in 1969. It began as the culmination
of efforts by 14 local physicians who saw a need for
a hospital located outside Spokane’s urban core. The
95-bed hospital was first in the area to have 24-hour
physician care in the emergency department.
The hospital has expanded its services
over the years to meet the growing needs of the community
and the region. A 28-bed addition was completed in
1971. An outpatient surgery program was created in
1975. A three-story,
71,000 square foot addition was completed in the mid-'80s.
A 53,000-square-foot addition was added
in 2002, expanding the hospital by 40 percent. The additional
space houses a new MRI in the radiology department, new
surgical suites, an expanded and upgraded outpatient area
and emergency department as well as a new Education Center
with the latest in audiovisual technology. Today,
Valley Hospital and Medical Center is one of the most modern
healthcare facilities in the region. |
